So after being here for nearly 5months, more than expected have happened, yes that's a surprise even to me, I guess it comes along with the fact that it's a really different world out here. Here's what's been new:
-First day of school; awkward silence in the air of course. Honestly alone the first 2 days, since I said I was from Brunei, they were all dumbfonded, they never heard of it. We had a huge map in class but it didn't help as much, Brunei was still minute heh~ I spoke english alot, so they all thought I couldn't speak the mother tongue, they laughed and got surprised knowing I actually could. So by next week, people had their own groups of friends, as did I.
-Getting used to customs here were a really huge adjustment, but somehow learning about them really tends to highlight the Filipino in me, so to speak. My school's pretty huge, 12,000 students and there are 5 branches of the school, so I'm guessing all the students put together would be roughly 50-60 thousand. My schools pretty known for my course (International Relations) as well as Hotel restaurant Management and also Cruiseline courses.
-The schools here are all active in "Speech Choir". It was altogether something new for me, but it turned out to be something like doing a speech as a group and acting as well. Our class being the "Active-lets-join-everything" class, joined in both the English and Filipino competitions for Speech Choirs. We won 2nd for both of them. Very unforgettable day. Although, getting 2nd was like prynsa all over again heh~(yeah you heard me Miz). In the Filipino competition, I had to do a solo monologue...IN FILIPINO!!Hahaha spent days trying to pronounce it right and memorize it, but with a little luck, I managed to pull it off.

-During English week, I happened to join the competition for acoustic singing, heh I sang John Mayer's 'Comfortable'. I was the best in the audition, but I didn't get in, only cause they weren't at all familiar with the song. The same day i got a chance to jam with one of my classmates. She played the violin and I played the guitar, applause in the class was great. 8 of my friends and I joined "Readers Theatre" its a competition where a group reads a script and they judge pronounciation, sound, tone etc etc. We won 3rd for that competition. Yeay!! The great things about joining these competitions are if you win any place, you get a grade in the subject that its closely affiliated with(amazing!!) and at the same time you get to have fun practising.

-We all got 50points in the exam automatically, but a few of my other classmates got 90 cause they joined both the readers and the Speech Choir, heh in other words they only need 10 points to get 100 :)
