-Pride for my colors-
Pride? Is it wrong to be proud? Or is it an expression of things or people we love? Some people say pride can be a negative thing, but at times, it's exactly what we need. To sum it all up, too much of a good thing can be bad. I go to school 5 times a week now, I guess it gives me more time to understand and assess if my schools has been adequate for my young mind that needs the knowledge for a future. Anyway, people here, especially youth, talk alot about their pride in their country and school, only problem is, it doesn't seem to be in place. I even see this in the train on my way to school, or while I'm eating at a place. How can a student from a certain university wear a shirt or a lace from another university? Is this pride? More like trying to show off or ''pasikat'' as they refer to it here. I didn't really care but now it seems to be taking a toll, not only on our unity, but even are character. Our country is very fortunate to have great Universities; DLSU, Ateneo and UST to name a few, but that doesn't mean that we should wear their merchandise. Every school had their own, is it that hard to take pride in? Pride is love; to love your school and what it's values and traditions are, that's true pride. A friend of mine once told me he would really love to see this change, to see how our students are unified wearing only our colors and no one elses. I'm not a crazy obsessive person, I would just love to see more love for the school, more pride and most of all... unity. So the next time you plan to wear someone else's colors, be sure you know what your true colors are.
